Google’s two successive policy updates, published in October 2025, will have a direct impact on the marketing and visibility of global gold games and award-winning products. Google ‘ s Gambling and Game Advertising Policy explicitly states: “A case that does not fall within the category of social casinos: there are prizes and games, and the official interpretation adds: “A game involving a real world reward must comply fully with the restrictions and licensing provisions of the online lottery policy.”
The revision means that a platform with a competitive model (including an operator of a two-currency system using a “coin + convertible” currency) will not be able to obtain full casino licence plates. Alliance marketers and media partners promoting such products are now subject to the same advertising standards as licensed lottery operators, or face the risk of account closure. On 30 October, Google launched a new version of the Age Limited Content and Functions Policy at Play Console to establish stricter child protection measures for Android developers. The policy states: “Developers will be required to update the application at least 30 days from 30 October 2025 to comply with the new regulations.” The updated article emphasizes that “for the protection of minors, the new policy requires that applications that match dating, dating or genuine gold lottery/play/competitive functions must use Play console to shield underage users”. Developers are required to integrate the Google Age Screening Tool by the end of November, and full enforcement will start on 28 January 2026. Non-compliance applications may be mounted or suspended.
The series of initiatives marks a renewed escalation of Google’s strict regulation of game content: award-winning operators lose their original “free game” promotion path, and application developers have to prove their platform-level compliance. Industry analysis suggests that these two updates reflect global regulatory convergence – – Google advertising and distribution are following parallel rules that reflect local licence requirements, responsible lottery norms and age validation standards.
