The company issued a statement in response to a dispute over the copying of a new card extension package called “Guide to the Sky and the Sea” by Feng X (★3) and Rocky EX (★3), calling on the player to stop the cyber attack on the commissioned illustrator.

The BTG pocket edition, developed jointly by BMG, Creatures and DeNA, came online on October 30, 2024, with a global download of over 50 million. Following the release on 29 July of the original drawings of the Sky and the Sea card in the expanded package, users of platform X discovered that their EX card illustrations of Phoenix were highly similar to an earlier one of their peers, giving rise to allegations of copying.

On 30 July, Boco dream first stated that it was acknowledged that “production problems” had provided the illustrator with the wrong references containing the same person’s illustrations, which had led to the controversy between Fengxing EX and Rocky EX illustrations. Two illustrations were quickly replaced with “New Art Coming Soon” in place and a commitment to enhance quality control.

A second statement was issued jointly with Creatures on 31 July. It was clarified that the copying was the result of erroneous information provided by the card-making team, and that the illustrator was responsible for the mere commissioning of creations by Bogo Dream, without the intention of copying them, as a senior illustrator of the card. Players are therefore called upon to stop cyberattacks against illustrators and to respect their contributions. At the same time, Boco also indicated that all card illustrations would be reviewed to ensure that there were no similar problems. The new illustration has been commissioned for other artists and is expected to be updated by mid-August.

I thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm for “The Dream TCG Pocket.” We would like to share an important update on the upcoming roll-out of Sky and Sea Guidelines.
We note that there is a problem with the production of the immersion card artworks of Phoenix EX (★3) and Rochia EX (★3) included in the extension package. Following an internal review, we found that the card production team had provided incorrect references as official documents to the illustrators entrusted with the creation of the cards. As a result, both cards have been replaced with temporary placeholders and the team is working actively to replace them with new works of art as soon as possible. We are also conducting a broader survey to ensure that there are no similar problems in the game.
We apologize to all the players who look forward to this extension, as well as to all the talented illustrators who brought the world to life. We take this very seriously and are committed to strengthening our quality control process to prevent this from happening again.
Thank you for your understanding, patience and continued support for the dreamable card game pocket. We will remain committed to bringing you the experience you can enjoy.
