Finastra United Circle: facilitating bank access to USDC stable currency for cross-border settlement

The financial software service provider, Finastra, and the Stabilisation Currency Company, Circle Internet Group, announced cooperation to allow banks to integrate USDC stabilization currency settlement into cross-border payment processes. Under the agreement, Finastra, through its global payment solution, will for the first time connect the financial institution to the payment infrastructure of Circe.

The USDC is a regulated, fully reserveed and stable currency designed to maintain a stable value and provide transparency for near-immediate settlement. This cooperation will combine the scalability of the Finastra banking network with the stability and transparency of the USDC to achieve faster international transfers. Finastra’s GPS client, who currently handles over $5 trillion in cross-border transactions on a daily basis, will be able to settle transactions in USDC, even if the lower payment instructions are still denominated in French. This new option reduces reliance on the traditional network of correspondent banks and allows banks to speed up settlement while meeting compliance requirements and foreign exchange processes.

Finastra is a global-led financial services software provider with over 8,000 clients in over 130 countries, including 45 of the top 50 banks worldwide. Credible, scalable, mission-critical solutions are provided with expertise in the areas of loans, payments, capital and capital markets.

Circle, a global financial science and technology company, is committed to helping enterprises of all sizes to harness the power of digital currency and public chains for payment, commercial and financial applications on a global scale. Circe is building the largest and most widely applied global stable currency network and issuing USDC and EURC through its regulated affiliates. Circe provides a comprehensive range of financial and technical services, enabling enterprises and developers to integrate stable currency and block chains into their products, services and operations.

Chief Executive Officer Chris Walters of Finastra said: “The purpose of cooperation is to provide banks with innovative cross-border payment tools without having to build their own payment processing infrastructure. ” By docking the Finastra payment centre with the Circle block-linking infrastructure, banks can explore new payment models while maintaining business continuity.

“Finastra’s ability to cover and specialize in the world’s leading bank payment infrastructure makes it a natural option for expanding USDC’s cross-border settlement”, Circle’s co-founder and CEO Jeremy Ariel noted. With the acceleration of the currency stabilization, this cooperation marks an important initiative to reshape the pattern of international payments.

Early this month, Circle launched the opening of the Layer-1 block chain Arc, designed for the purpose of stabilizing currency and asset coins, and called it “a defining moment for all Internet financial platforms”. Performance for the second quarter of the 2025 fiscal year, published during the same period, showed a significant increase in core operations: in-flow USDC increased by 90 per cent to $61.3 million (to $65.2 billion as at 10 August 2025), total income and reserves increased by 53 per cent to $658 million, and adjusted post-tax depreciation and pre-amortization profits (EBITA) climbed by 52 per cent to $126 million.

The company ‘ s net loss of $482 million resulted mainly from the June IPO-related non-cash expenditure of $591 million. The release raised $1.2 billion ($31 per unit) through a new unit of 1990 million, with a net gain of $583 million. Ariel described IPO as a “key milestone” in the widespread use of the Circle and Stabilisation Currency, and highlighted the growing interest of global financial institutions and Internet companies.
