Thailand has stepped up its efforts to combat online gambling by banning over 180,000 illegal chains for three months. Answer.

His Government was working to destroy the infrastructure that supported cybercrime, including social accounts, pages and web sites that maintained fraud syndicates and illegal gambling operations. The scale of the operation was widely disclosed to be unprecedented. Data from the Prime Minister ‘ s Office of Thailand show that between 1 October 2025 and 11 January 2026, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society blocked 220,486 illegal social media accounts, home pages and links to websites. The highest proportion of illegal gambling links was in 183,977.

Government officials in Thailand stressed that the special operation, code-named Quick Win, was aimed at cutting off the operational channels of criminal groups as a matter of urgency. According to publicly available monitoring data from the Deputy Spokesperson, Airin Phanrit, December 2025 was the most intensive period of operations, blocking 116,379 illegal links on a single month basis. In addition to gambling, DES has blocked links to various types of illegal content during the same period: e-smoking (14,618), alcohol advertising (10,139), trafficking in cannabis (2,943), prostitution (2,040), trafficking in firearms (1,990) and 4,779 websites, involving false information, fraud, offences against the monarchy, hate speech and pornography. Erin Pannett described the precision of the DES through the WebD digital enforcement platform: The system integrates artificial intelligence and robotic process automation techniques that automatically identify offending content, secure electronic evidence, generate paperless court application documents and issue mandatory blocking orders to network service providers.

As previously disclosed by Thailand’s Public Notices and Relations Office, the WebD platform has achieved full-process closed-ring management: from the smart identification of illegal web sites, the automatic integration of the evidence chain, the online submission of judicial documents, to the execution of the ISP block and the validation of the “URL validation module”. The second major core technology support is a continuous validation mechanism. Erin Panitt stressed that the “URL validation system” deployed by DESS, which allows real-time monitoring of blocked access, guaranteed the effective removal of more than 183,000 gambling links during the current fiscal year (as of 11 January 2026). With regard to the gambling industry, the regulatory authorities are focusing on the system of diversion; social accounts, type of advertising pages, payment linkages and the name of the basin. The operational data published by Thailand confirmed that illegal gambling was highly dependent on scale operations, and that when Governments incorporated containment actions into the industrialization process, their countervailing efficiency would increase exponentially.
